Last summer I worked exclusively on jewelry, copper necklaces for my galleries, 2 entries for the 2013 Sanibel Shell Show and one set for myself.

Turban shell bracelet

I just finished this turban shell cuff and plan to make a collar to match. I worked with a variety of shells, crystals and seed beads.

Back in the studio

I am back in the studio and working on several projects, including continuing with the shell jewelry that I began in Florida and 6 necklaces for Jack Straw Gallery to be ready for "The Season". I have begun a new Madonna and Child beaded icon and am taking up the drawing challege - making one drawing every morning before I begin my other work.

The AOTA exhibition is coming up in July and I am entering 2 pieces - one "The Mystery" (see earlier blog) and an encaustic painting.

Sanibel Shell Show

The 2012, 75th annual Sanibel Shell Show ran from March 1-3. I have somewhat reliable word that the show will be featured as a segment on the CBS Sunday Morning News on March 18 (9-10:30 EST).

 This is my entry in the jewelry division of the show.

Two necklaces featuring turban shells as the focal shell. Also including beehive snail shells, pearls, spiny oyster, amber, carnelian, agate, sequins and glass beads.
